UPDATED info about Summer Line Launch Show and Acoustic Concert!

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011
1301 Nicholas St. Hot Shops Art Center’s 1st Foor Rental Hall
Saturday, May 7 ยท 6:00pm - 10:30pm
It’s been quite awhile since Autopilot Art has had a runway show and we think it’s about time to wow you with our new hip line of soft and comfy Hoodies, Dresses, Shorts, Skirts, T-shirts, Onsies, and Tunics for Men, Women, Kids, and Babies for Summer!

This show will be super fun because not only are there kids in the show again but this time they are mixed-in with the adults. They’ll be walking alone, paired with other kids, and paired with adults. It wouldn’t be an Autopilot show if Leroy the French Bulldog didn’t make an appearance as well. ;)

The Cocktail Hour/Doors open at 6PM to give you a chance to get a snack, drink, and a good seat while DJ Jacob Thiele plays music for you. He will also be DJing the runway show with a music mix by Alexia Thiele.

The Runway portion will start promptly at 7PM, since we have little ones that need to get to bed. The Runway show itself will only last about 30 minutes so don’t be late!
Another fun part of this Runway is that we have teamed-up with Scout Dry Goods! They are providing shoes and accessories for our adult models as they walk the runway. In the week following the show Autopilot Art will then also be for sale at Scout! So stop in and check out our stuff, their cool vintage wear, and fun items from other local designers and artists.

Immediately following the Runway some AMAZING musicians are lined-up to play short acoustic sets for you while you are able to shop for all the looks you JUST saw go down the runway, enjoy some wine, beer, red bull, and snacks, have your photo taken on the runway for our blog by Christopher Couse Photography, and spend time meeting with the models and designers.

Musicians penciled-in to play so far are:
-Eric Morelli of The Study Band from Portland, OR (thestudyband.com)
-Vic Padios and Shane Lamson
-Miniature Horse -Rachel Tomlinson Dick’s solo project
-Laura Burhenn of The Mynabirds (themynabirds.com)
More TBA

There will be items for sale starting at $1 and going up from there. This show will have something for everyone.

$5 suggested donation at the door (to help cover expenses).

Summer Line Launch Runway and Music Show!

Sunday, April 10th, 2011

Hey trusty Autopiloteers,

We are having our Summer line launch that will include rad dresses, hoodies, vests, skirts, and t-shirts for adults down to baby size. No reason your babe can’t dress with style.

I have tons of new rad designs and styles that you’ll have to see in person to appreciate.

The doors are at 6PM. That is when Cocktail Hour starts. The runway start at 7PM on-the-dot. The babes and kids are walking with the adults this time so better get here in time or you’ll miss the whole runway. It should only take about half and hour to parade the goods.

AFTER the runway stick around this time for more food, drinks, and music by some of my favorite musicians. The show will be opened by Eric from The Study Band from Portland. Following are more acoustic sets from Laura Burhenn of The Mynabirds and a few more special guests that will be announced within the week!

During the music portion of the show ALL the clothes you were just able to see on the runway will be displayed for purchase in addition to onesies, t-shirts, patches, buttons, and stickers! There is NO shortage of items for sale ranging from $1 on up! As always, all items are one-of-a-kind, hand silk-screened, and original designs! Support local art!

Come eat, drink, and be entertained. All Ages. Hot Shops 1301 Nicholas 1st Floor rental hall. $5 suggested donation for all the food, drink, and entertainment you can handle!

Sorry for the long hiatus in posts!

Sunday, April 10th, 2011

Hey all!

TONS of stuff has happened in Autopilot land since our last post in 2008. Sorry for the lack of posts. In all honesty, I lost the sign-in address. Der.

To quickly sum-up the past few years we’ve:

-Had employees come and go. My first employee Ellen Wilde is about to rejoin the team as my lead assistant so I can travel for wardrobe jobs and such and we can keep up on the store, runway shows, and posts still. My other employee now is Bethany Connor. She rocks as well and has been with us for a few weeks.

-I expanded the line to include kids clothes because of pressure from customers and family members. At some point I believe the kids clothes took over too much for the adult line. This is being changed.

-I made a 100 piece order of YOGA APPAREL that is being sold locally at Lotus House of Yoga and soon on the online store! These are all SUPER limited addition clothes that will make you greet the morning with the breath of fire and a heart of a lion like no other…go downward dog!

-I am still waiting for the website to be updated. The layout will remain the same. I just want to swap-out the fabrics. You know, spruce ‘er up a bit. I’ve been working on this for the past year. I’m hoping Secret Penguin will be working with us still. Maybe they can win another AIGA award from the site. :)

-The company has been in many shows over the past few years. Checkout pictures of the shows on our facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/autopilot.art

-Our studio is located in Hot Shops Art Center at 1301 Nicholas St. in Omaha, NE in studio #205. Come by and say hi and purchase items from our special display of items just for the studio!

-We’ve done wardrobe for a Lifetime movie, an independent film named Seafarer, and for NBC’s Parenthood Season 2. I love doing wardrobe, costume design, and dressing/creating characters and hope to steer the company more and more into this direction.

-We still make clothes for bands on tour. Most recently I made dresses for The Mynabirds (http://themynabirds.com) past tours and a dress for Orenda Fink to wear for Azure Ray (http://www.azureraymusic.com) or whatever she’d like to wear it for. I also love to make dresses for Neely Jenkins of Tilly and the Wall. Even though Tilly has been on hiatus I still love making clothes for pals. I couldn’t be more excited for them to start creating music again! Such amazing talent.

-I made the red carpet dress for actress Mae Whitman to wear for her Tinkerbell premiere. Mae is the voice of Tinkerbell in Disney’s Tinkerbell movies. She is such an incredible person and talent. <3

-The webstore is almost ready to have a “custom order” setting for t-shirts and Hoodies. There was a minor setback with that, but it should be ready to roll soon. Whoo.

-Jaime O’Bradovich took some amazing press photos for us for the company. You’ll see these in posters and advertisements for Autopilot. I’ll post one along with this entry. If you need pictures taken for anything you should get in touch with Jaime. He is amazing to work with.

Man, let’s see..I think that catches y’all up pretty much. You can always email me at alexia@autopilot-art.com with any questions and requests as well! We’ll for sure get back to you!

Thanks to you all for your support over the years. You are aces.
